Quick Bolt Tongs

Quick Bolt Tongs can be easily made by heating, splitting with a hot chisel, shaping the jaw, and riveting together. The open jaw makes these tongs ideal for grabbing metal with a bulky end that would get in the way with other styles of tongs.

Difficulty Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Tools Required: Vise, Hot Chisel, Hammer, Drill or Hot Punch
Helpful Tools: Rivet Bucking/Heading Tool

Quick Bolt Tong blanks are made from 3/8" thick mild steel. The jaws are 2-1/4" wide and the reins are 13" long.

Price includes two Quick Bolt Tong blanks (to make one pair), one 5/16" x 1-1/2" rivet, and an Instruction page.

Just heat and split with a hot chisel,

Shape the jaw,

and rivet!

New Blacksmith - Easy to assemble

I am just getting into blacksmithing and I found that these tongs were pretty easy to assemble, even with very limited tools. The hardest part was aligning the jaws on the jackhammer bits I'm going to use for hardy tools. I will be ordering more quick and rapid tongs in the near future!

Fantastic value
